Reborn Rookie Episode 3 Recap – Episode 3 picks up right after Chairman Kang Yong-ho’s shocking announcement that anyone within Choiseong could become his successor based on ability rather than bloodline. Unsurprisingly, that decision sends everyone into panic mode.
While the company buzzes with speculation, Jae-gyeong confronts Bang-geul and questions her sudden return. In her eyes, the timing is suspicious. Why come back now unless there’s an inheritance at stake?
Elsewhere, Jae-seong has his own concerns. He corners Yong-ho and asks why he mentioned Yujin Networks, IB Global, and Hwain Dynamics during his presentation. The conversation quickly turns tense when Yong-ho brings up the hit-and-run case. That single comment is enough to make Jae-seong retreat. He becomes increasingly nervous that Jun-hyeon, who is actually Yong-ho in another body, might discover the truth about the offshore companies connected to him.
Afterward, Jae-seong desperately tries to figure out how the information leaked.
Not long after, Jae-gyeong summons him to meet Bang-geul. The twins immediately accuse their half-sister of trying to manipulate them.
Bang-geul plays the situation perfectly. Instead of arguing, she acts innocent and claims she simply wants to return home and reconnect with her family. Jae-gyeong agrees to let her come back, but only if Bang-geul signs over the real estate that Yong-ho previously purchased in her name.
Without hesitation, Bang-geul signs everything away.
Later, Jae-seong praises his sister for handling the situation so effectively. Their conversation reveals lingering resentment toward Seon-hee. They discuss how she began a relationship with Yong-ho before their mother’s death and rapidly rose from housemaid to stepmother. Jae-gyeong makes it clear that she still looks down on the household staff and intends to keep them in their place.
Yong-ho overhears part of Bang-geul’s conversation with Seon-hee and learns that she plans to move back home. Curious about how she managed to convince the twins, he starts asking questions. Bang-geul immediately shuts him down and tells him to stay out of her business.
At work, Bang-geul starts quietly gathering information. She builds relationships with the cleaning staff and treats them kindly, using those connections to learn what Jae-gyeong and Jae-seong have been doing behind the scenes.
At the same time, she notices Yong-ho constantly keeping an eye on her. Instead of avoiding him, she decides to follow him. That decision leads her somewhere unexpected.
Bang-geul catches Yong-ho inside the chairman’s vault collecting cash and gold bars. Naturally, she assumes he’s stealing from her father. When she confronts him, Yong-ho makes an explosive accusation. He claims the twins were responsible for the hit-and-run incident and says that “Yong-ho” personally asked him to stop them from taking control of the company.
Bang-geul refuses to believe such a serious accusation without proof.
Yong-ho pushes back. He argues that there is currently no evidence connecting the twins to the crime, but insists they are dangerous. He also turns the conversation around and accuses Bang-geul of wanting to eliminate her siblings for her own benefit.
Then he offers a partnership.
According to Yong-ho, the money and gold he is collecting actually belong to the company and were stolen by the twins. He asks Bang-geul to help him recover everything.
She doesn’t agree immediately, but the offer clearly gives her something to think about.
The next morning, Bang-geul officially returns home.
Jae-gyeong wastes no time humiliating Seon-hee. In front of her own children and grandchildren, she refers to her as “Housekeeper Jo.” She also forces Bang-geul to share a room with her mother rather than allowing them access to the master’s bedroom.
Later, Jae-gyeong warns Bang-geul not to draw attention to herself at Choiseong if she wants to continue living under the family roof.
Back at the company, Sang-jae promises to protect the chairman’s position until a successor is chosen.
Meanwhile, Bang-geul confronts Yong-ho once again. She tells him directly that she doesn’t trust him and demands proof that he can actually take down her siblings.
Yong-ho’s attention then shifts toward the Materials team.
He pressures them to prepare figures for an upcoming report and refuses to let the Sales Department continue dominating everyone. Manager Bong-ki becomes visibly anxious, but Yong-ho encourages him to stop backing down and start leading with confidence.
That advice pays off sooner than expected.
When a member of the Sales Department barges into the office and openly mocks Bong-ki’s leadership without realizing the manager is standing nearby, Bong-ki finally reaches his limit.
Yong-ho immediately pushes him to report the incident.
The Managing Director initially refuses to get involved because of Jae-seong’s influence over Sales. Yong-ho cleverly changes the conversation by suggesting the department may be involved in corporate fraud. He convinces the director that investigating the issue could actually improve his standing with Jae-seong in the future.
The trap works.
Unfortunately, the stress becomes too much for Bong-ki, who collapses shortly after the meeting.
While waiting for him to recover, Bang-geul explains his history to Yong-ho. Bong-ki was once an auditor before being demoted to help cover up Jae-seong’s illegal business activities.
Yong-ho reacts defensively, but the discussion ends when Bong-ki regains consciousness.
As they return to work, Yong-ho receives an unexpected phone call.
The nurse caring for Jun-hyeon’s grandmother, Ok-sun, reveals that she has already left for Seoul after failing to contact him. Bong-ki is shocked by Yong-ho’s cold reaction and urges him to go find her immediately. Bang-geul offers to drive.
The trip to the bus station leads to one of the episode’s more emotional moments.
At first, Ok-sun doesn’t even recognize the man standing in front of her. Only after he changes into a football jersey does she realize he’s “Jun-hyeon.”
Watching Yong-ho awkwardly navigate the situation was honestly fascinating. He even refuses to let Ok-sun kiss him on the cheek.
The group eventually takes her back to the hospital, where Bang-geul requests a full medical examination.
Seeing Ok-sun shower “Jun-hyeon” with affection affects Bang-geul deeply. It reminds her of how little love she received from her own father. Yong-ho attempts to defend himself, but she ignores him completely.
Later, while Bang-geul visits her father’s body, Nurse Gyeong-seon informs Yong-ho about the camera installed in the room where his body remains. He asks her to continue caring for both Ok-sun and “Yong-ho.”
The following day, Yong-ho, Bang-geul, Bong-ki, and the Materials team begin auditing Yujin Networks, IB Global, and Hwain Dynamics.
The inspection at Yujin faces resistance, but they eventually gain access. Instead of participating in the audit, Yong-ho and Bang-geul secretly follow Director Song. What they discover changes everything.
Director Song is working for Na Byung-mo.
Bang-geul quickly realizes that exposing Director Song would inevitably expose Jae-seong as well. Yong-ho agrees, though he insists Jae-gyeong must also be removed if they truly want to prevent the twins from taking over Choiseong.
Meanwhile, panic spreads among the twins.
Jae-seong becomes alarmed when Director Song suddenly disappears. Soon after, he learns that the accounts have been emptied and that Director Song has vanished along with his family.
Jae-gyeong also hears the news and immediately orders Secretary Yeo to investigate whether Tae-ha Group is involved.
Director Song, meanwhile, gives cash to his wife and tells her to head for the airport. He then meets Byung-mo and provides access to the slush fund money.
That’s when Byung-mo reveals his true nature.
Rather than reward Director Song, he decides to eliminate him and erase any connection to the scheme.
Thankfully, Yong-ho intervenes in time. He warns Director Song about the danger and advises him to keep control of the funds.
The warning saves his life.
Byung-mo’s men plant a bomb inside Director Song’s vehicle, but he escapes before it explodes.
Before disappearing with part of the money, Director Song hands the remaining funds over to Yong-ho.
By the end of the episode, Bang-geul finally understands that Yong-ho wasn’t bluffing. He genuinely intends to bring down both Jae-seong and Jae-gyeong.
And for the first time, she seems willing to consider trusting him.
Episode 3 Review
This episode packed a huge amount of story into a single hour. Every major faction seemed to be making moves at the same time, which kept the pace moving even when the corporate discussions became complicated.
One thing that stood out to me is how little resistance Yong-ho faces despite living in Jun-hyeon’s body. Everyone keeps referring to him as an intern, yet nobody seems particularly concerned about how a professional football player suddenly understands complicated financial structures, corporate politics, and executive-level strategy. I expected more questions from the people around him.
Jae-seong continues to make surprisingly careless decisions. For someone involved in hidden offshore accounts and slush funds, he spends a lot of time reacting after problems appear rather than preventing them. His growing panic throughout the episode made him look far less competent than he probably believes himself to be.
On the other hand, Byung-mo looks increasingly dangerous. The decision to eliminate Director Song the moment he became a liability shows just how ruthless he can be. I have a feeling he could become an even bigger threat once he realizes things are no longer going according to plan.
Bang-geul remains one of the most interesting characters in the story. She has every reason to doubt Yong-ho, and the series doesn’t rush her into trusting him. The slow shift in her attitude felt much more believable than an immediate alliance.
The biggest question for me is still Jun-hyeon’s role in the overall story. Right now, Yong-ho is driving nearly every major plotline. If the souls eventually return to their original bodies, I’m curious to see where Jun-hyeon fits into the narrative moving forward.
