Reborn Rookie Episode 2 Recap & Review: Yong-ho Takes His First Step Back Into Choiseong

Reborn Rookie Episode 2 Recap – Episode 2 picks up right where things left off. Yong-ho is still trapped inside Jun-hyeon’s body, and his first instinct is simple, he wants his own life back. He desperately tries to reconnect with his original body, but the aftermath of the accident leaves him struggling. While doctors check on the unconscious chairman, chaos continues to unfold around him.

The Kang twins quickly move to control the situation. They tell Sang-jae that they will deal with Jun-hyeon themselves and have security remove him from the area. It’s obvious they’re already thinking several steps ahead.

Things become even more surprising when Bang-geul suddenly appears and confronts Jun-hyeon. She is furious about comments involving her father, but Yong-ho is left stunned for a completely different reason. Not only has his daughter returned to South Korea, but she’s also working inside Choiseong without the rest of the family knowing.

Before they can talk any further, Jae-gyeong and Jae-seong arrive and immediately start pushing their version of events, insisting that Yong-ho was responsible for the accident. Bang-geul slips away and overhears a conversation that changes everything. She learns that the twins may have been involved in the hit-and-run incident that affected Jun-hyeon.

Meanwhile, Seon-hee discovers Bang-geul’s presence and questions her about hiding the truth. Their conversation shifts toward Yong-ho’s condition and what the family might do once they learn Bang-geul is back in Korea.

Bang-geul doesn’t stay quiet for long. She spreads information about the twins’ involvement through company chat groups, and the rumors spread rapidly throughout Choiseong. Employees begin talking, public anger grows, and protests soon erupt. People demand accountability and want the real culprit punished.

The pressure puts the twins in a difficult position. Instead of telling the truth, they decide to place all responsibility on Yong-ho. Their plan depends on controlling Jun-hyeon, but when Yong-ho confronts them while occupying the young man’s body, he refuses to cooperate. Furious at their lies, he threatens to expose everything.

The twins respond by abducting him and attempting to force him onto their side.

As the scandal grows, Choiseong’s stock value begins falling. The twins find themselves accused of several crimes, and Jae-gyeong takes drastic action. Speaking to reporters, she claims that her father committed the offenses and is now trying to frame his innocent children.

Jae-seong is visibly nervous, but his sister remains confident. She believes her husband Suk-do can make sure Yong-ho never wakes up.

Watching everything unfold from Jun-hyeon’s body is painful for Yong-ho. He sneaks away and witnesses firsthand how badly public opinion has turned against him. Everywhere he goes, people criticize both him and the company he spent years building.

Unable to defend himself directly, he chooses a different path.

He crashes the twins’ press conference and makes a shocking statement. Speaking as Jun-hyeon, he publicly confirms that Yong-ho was the driver who hit him.

This scene honestly caught me off guard.

During the speech, Yong-ho reflects on the sacrifices he made throughout his life while building Choiseong. In the end, he chooses to protect the company rather than protect his own reputation. It’s a painful decision, but one he believes is necessary.

The twins are stunned by his cooperation. They quickly promise compensation and issue apologies, hoping to calm the situation.

Among the reporters, Sang-jae spots Bang-geul. She quietly asks him not to reveal her presence to her half-siblings.

Afterward, Yong-ho visits Jun-hyeon’s home to better understand the life he’s inherited. The experience is far from pleasant. His reaction to the living conditions—and especially an unexpected cockroach encounter, provides one of the episode’s lighter moments. The former chairman immediately decides he never wants to live there again.

At the same time, he discovers one unexpected advantage. His younger body can run.

That realization leads him back to the hospital because his cane contains the key to a secret vault.

While Yong-ho searches for the cane, the twins continue plotting with Suk-do. Their plan becomes even darker when Jun-hyeon’s soul inside Yong-ho’s body begins showing signs of waking up.

What happens next was probably one of the episode’s most disturbing moments.

Jae-gyeong attempts to smother her father’s body with a pillow. Instead, Jun-hyeon begins suffocating inside that body. He manages to trigger the emergency alarm just in time, forcing the twins and Suk-do to flee before they’re caught.

Yong-ho witnesses the aftermath and is devastated. Seeing his own children willing to go that far leaves him heartbroken.

Soon afterward, Suk-do informs the family that Yong-ho has fallen into a coma and could die. The news spreads quickly, and not everyone reacts with sadness.

Back in Jun-hyeon’s body, Yong-ho discovers the blank check that had been prepared before the soul-switch accident. Rather than demand money, he comes up with a smarter plan.

He asks the twins for a job at Choiseong.

Completely unaware of his true identity, they agree and bring him into the company.

Bang-geul is surprised when she hears the news. On his first day, Yong-ho immediately notices how much has changed. He crosses paths with Sang-jae and unintentionally treats him like an old friend, creating an awkward exchange.

He is then introduced to his new team.

The reception isn’t exactly warm.

When a volunteer is needed to train the new intern, Bang-geul steps forward. Their partnership gets off to a rocky start. Yong-ho asks questions that seem far too advanced for an intern, while Bang-geul repeatedly reminds him to stay in his lane.

Things become even more awkward when he refers to her as the chairman’s daughter and a New York party girl. Bang-geul immediately assumes the twins supplied him with that information and warns him not to cross any lines.

Even so, Yong-ho continues watching over her.

Curious about her reputation, he asks Team Leader Park Bong-ki about her work performance. The answer surprises him. Bang-geul is described as dependable and highly valued by the entire team.

Moments later, Yong-ho lashes out at Bong-ki for treating interns poorly, leaving the manager completely rattled.

That evening, while the rest of the team heads out for dinner, Yong-ho remains behind to finish an Excel assignment. Watching a business titan struggle with basic office software is genuinely funny.

Meanwhile, Bang-geul uses the dinner gathering to gather information about her half-siblings.

Once the office empties, Yong-ho finally visits his secret vault and retrieves access to his luxurious VVIP apartment. After spending some time there, he heads to the hospital dressed far differently than the struggling intern everyone thinks he is.

There, he leaves a large amount of money for Song Gyeong-seon and hires her to provide updates about his physical condition and Suk-do’s activities. She reveals that his body is healthy overall, though neurological complications remain.

Yong-ho also leaves a message for Sang-jae.

The note shocks him.

Later, Bang-geul recruits Jun-hyeon to help with an upcoming presentation. Yong-ho briefly wonders if his daughter likes the young man whose body he’s occupying, but Bang-geul ignores the comment and focuses on work.

Their presentation ends up exposing something significant.

During the meeting, Yong-ho recommends cutting ties with three companies that are hurting Choiseong’s profits. Jae-seong immediately recognizes the names and panics. He knows those companies are connected to his own secret financial channels.

For the first time, Bang-geul starts seriously questioning what Jun-hyeon is really hiding.

At the same time, Sang-jae calls a board meeting and reads a message left by Yong-ho. The announcement names Sang-jae as acting CEO and introduces a new principle: anyone within the company can become the next CEO based on merit.

The room barely has time to process the news before Jun-hyeon storms in.

His declaration instantly changes the atmosphere.

If anyone can become CEO, then he intends to compete as well.

And that’s where Episode 2 leaves us.

Review

This episode throws an incredible amount of story at the audience. Between the soul-switch complications, family betrayals, corporate politics, and Yong-ho’s attempt to rebuild his influence from the bottom, there’s barely a moment to breathe.

Lee Jun-young continues carrying a difficult role. He’s playing a young man whose body contains an aging business chairman, and many of the comedic moments come from that contrast. Some scenes are genuinely funny, especially whenever Yong-ho struggles with ordinary tasks or reacts to modern office life.

At the same time, the episode introduces some surprisingly dark material. The hospital sequence involving Jae-gyeong and Suk-do was easily the most shocking part of the hour and showed just how dangerous Yong-ho’s children have become.

The relationship that interests me most right now is Yong-ho and Bang-geul. Watching a father interact with his daughter while hiding inside someone else’s body creates an unusual dynamic, and the show seems determined to explore it further.

The story still feels chaotic, and not every plotline flows smoothly yet. Even so, Episode 2 ends with an intriguing setup. Yong-ho has officially returned to Choiseong as an intern, and the idea of him climbing back to power from the bottom of the company could make for some entertaining episodes ahead.
