Just when it looked like Matthew and Ye-jin were finally getting a break, Episode 11 throws them right back into another nightmare. Honestly, the timing couldn’t be worse. The episode starts peeling back the truth behind the latest sabotage, and by the end of it, almost every suspicion points in one direction.
And yes, Chang-ho somehow gets even worse.
The episode opens with the reveal that Chang-ho has been secretly working with Michelle this whole time. Not only that, but he’s actively trying to ruin Gojeuneok Bio’s newest product and completely destroy Matthew’s career in the process. At this point, he’s not even hiding how far he’s willing to go.
Meanwhile, back at home, Ye-jin finds Matthew still awake and working late into the night. She admits that she’s stopped taking her sleeping pills because she wants to deal with her past by herself now. That small confession actually says a lot about how much she’s changed. Matthew tries helping her relax, but the moment turns unexpectedly sweet when the two end up kissing instead.
The next morning has a much lighter atmosphere. Ye-jin excitedly tells Sung-mi and Ki-hong that she’s finally getting her own show back. After everything she’s been through lately, it honestly felt nice seeing her genuinely happy again.
At Gojeuneok Bio, Matthew develops a new ingredient using the white flower noori mushroom. The material apparently speeds up wound healing, and he and Mu-won explain to Chang-ho that they’re creating a regenerative cream with it.
Of course, knowing what viewers know now, every conversation with Chang-ho feels uncomfortable.
Later that evening, Matthew invites Ye-jin out to a fancy restaurant. Naturally, she starts thinking he’s about to propose. I really thought the show was setting us up for that too. Instead, Matthew surprises her with a completely different proposal, he wants her to work with him on the new cream. Even though it wasn’t romantic in the way she expected, Ye-jin still looks genuinely touched and happily agrees.
The two spend the next few days working closely together on the project. During one meeting, Ye-jin complains about the cream’s strong smell and suggests adding artificial fragrance, which quickly turns into an argument. But honestly, these two can’t stay mad at each other for long because minutes later they’re already cuddling again like nothing happened.
Eventually, the cream passes all the lab tests, leaving Matthew and Mu-won thrilled. Matthew then asks Som-yi to come up with a name for the product, and she chooses “Noori.”
Matthew proudly shows Ye-jin the finished cream, and she later presents it to Director Dong, who immediately approves it for her show. Everyone celebrates together afterward, and the mood finally feels hopeful again for a brief moment.
The side romance also gets a cute little moment when Kwang-mo suddenly appears in the city to surprise Sung-mi. The two share a kiss, and honestly, they might be the only couple getting peaceful scenes right now.
The next morning, Ye-jin runs into Eric again during her jog. This time, he finally asks the question that’s clearly been haunting him for years, why didn’t she come meet him back then?
Ye-jin explains that she had wanted to go, but she had just started taking strong sleeping medication at the time. She ended up sleeping through all her alarms and only woke up later in the evening. Even so, she tells Eric that she still treasures the happy memories they shared together.
A few days before the launch, HIT begins building excitement around Noori Cream. They also organize a pre-launch event for thirty lucky winners.
But while all this is happening, Michelle discovers that Joong-hoon had been secretly working with Eric. She immediately fires him. Before leaving, though, he manages to grab footage from her car’s dashcam.
Then everything starts collapsing.
A beauty influencer named Min-na uploads a post claiming that Noori Cream caused her inflammatory skin disease. Things spiral fast after that. News articles begin connecting Matthew to both cream controversies, protestors vandalize his office and the greenhouses in Deokpung, and people even show up outside his house.
Watching everything repeat itself was honestly frustrating.
Matthew eventually says he’ll leave the village before things get any worse. Some of the elders actually agree with the idea, but Mrs Yang suddenly steps forward to defend him. She explains that Matthew reminds her of her late son, which is why she helped him after finding him unconscious in the snow during the Good Morning Cream incident.
The reveal itself felt a little random to me, but it does explain why she’s always looked after him so closely.
Elsewhere at HIT, Chang-ho brings flowers to Ji Yun-ji. During their conversation, it’s revealed that Yun-ji gave him the list of people who attended the Noori Cream pre-launch event. Now Chang-ho wants her help ruining Matthew even more.
At the same time, Joong-boon shows Eric screenshots from Michelle’s dashcam footage, which clearly shows her meeting with Chang-ho. Eric immediately brings the evidence to Matthew and Mu-won.
The investigation starts moving quickly after that.
Matthew and Mu-won discover that H.O. Cosmetics has a history of partnering with small companies only to steal their technology and research. One former client reveals that the company swapped out raw materials before selling products at higher prices. The similarities to the Good Morning Cream incident are impossible to ignore.
Mu-won takes the news especially hard and later visits Ae-ra. She notices how upset he is and quietly comforts him by making him a cappuccino. It’s a small moment, but one of the calmer scenes in an otherwise stressful episode.
Meanwhile, Ye-jin and her team realize that all six people who filed complaints against Noori Cream attended the same pre-launch event. Consumers from other events reported no issues at all. Additional testing also proves there’s nothing wrong with the cream itself.
Trying to save Matthew’s reputation, Jin-yi and Som-yi team up with Ye-jin for a live broadcast. During the stream, they demonstrate that the cream causes no side effects, even on Som-yi’s skin.
Then the episode drops another major reveal.
Myung-hwa notices Chang-ho meeting secretly with Yun-ji and starts digging into him. She later approaches Yun-ji, and viewers learn that Yun-ji has a young daughter named Seo-a.
Through a flashback, we see Chang-ho bribing Yun-ji while also threatening to expose the fact that she has a daughter. He pressured her into giving Good Morning Cream a prime-time spot without proper internal review.
In the present timeline, Yun-ji finally confesses everything to Ye-jin and hands over a recording of her conversation with Chang-ho.
Elsewhere, Matthew visits Woo-su’s house and discovers Woo-su’s phone. Inside are text messages showing Woo-su begging Chang-ho to admit what he did.
That discovery leads directly to the episode’s biggest confrontation.
Matthew meets Chang-ho and plays the recording Ye-jin sent him — one where Chang-ho practically admits to tampering with the ingredients himself.
A flashback then reveals Woo-su confronting Chang-ho in the past, desperately asking him to deny switching the ingredients. Chang-ho shows absolutely no guilt whatsoever during the exchange, which honestly made the scene even more disturbing.
Review
Episode 11 feels much heavier than some of the earlier episodes, but I actually think that works in its favor. The story finally drops most of the forced comedy and focuses almost entirely on the fallout surrounding Matthew and Ye-jin. The result is a much tighter and more serious episode.
One thing I appreciated was how quickly both leads jumped into action once the scandal exploded. Instead of dragging out scenes of self-pity, the episode lets them actively investigate what happened. The clues connecting back to Chang-ho also come together pretty smoothly, making him feel like a full-on melodrama villain at this point.
That said, I still wish the show would explain his motivation better. He’s clearly obsessed with destroying Matthew, but the series still hasn’t fully explained why he’s willing to go this far.
Some story choices also continue to feel shaky. Yun-ji hiding the existence of her daughter raises questions, and it’s hard to understand why a successful prime-time host would need Chang-ho’s money badly enough to risk everything. Woo-su’s actions remain confusing too, especially considering he apparently knew the truth all along.
I also wanted more emotional scenes between Matthew and Ye-jin during this crisis. Since the scandal mirrors their past trauma so closely, it felt like a missed opportunity not to show them leaning on each other more.
Even with those issues, the episode still does a good job building tension before the finale. And honestly, Sung-mi and Kwang-mo continue carrying the softer moments whenever the story gets too stressful.
