The Legend of Kitchen Soldier Episode 10 Recap & Review: Seong-jae Takes a Risk to Save Ye-rin

The Legend of Kitchen Soldier Episode 10 Recap

Episode 10 of The Legend of Kitchen Soldier opens with a lighthearted moment as Seong-jae dreams about becoming the head chef of the military mess hall. In his dream, everyone fears him and follows his orders without question. It’s a funny contrast to reality, where he is quickly jolted awake and forced to return to his usual duties.

Back at Ganglim Outpost, the atmosphere turns serious when Seok-ho gathers the commanders for an early morning meeting. He immediately criticizes Ye-rin for taking action without informing him first. Before the discussion can continue, Mun-ik arrives with an update regarding the comprehensive inspection being conducted by Min-gu and his team.

The inspection quickly disrupts daily operations throughout the outpost. Min-gu’s group examines the kitchen, barracks, and even Ye-rin’s office. Their findings in the kitchen raise immediate concerns. All of the available food supplies are classified as Grade A quality, which they use as evidence to argue that Ye-rin’s previous complaints were intentionally misleading. Based on that conclusion, Ye-rin is taken away for questioning.

While Ye-rin deals with the investigation, another conversation reveals what has really been happening behind the scenes. Min-gu reports directly to Chun-ik, exposing the connection between the two men. It becomes clear that Chun-ik is deeply involved in the corruption surrounding military food supplies, while Min-gu has been carrying out his orders. Chun-ik is furious that their operation has been exposed and blames Min-gu for allowing Ye-rin, the soldiers, and the entire Ganglim Outpost to discover their activities.

Not everyone is willing to stay silent. Jae-young openly criticizes Seok-ho for failing to stand up against Min-gu and Chun-ik. At the same time, Chun-ik summons Seok-ho for a private meeting.

During their discussion, Chun-ik once again brings up the possibility of promotion. However, the offer comes with a condition. He wants Seok-ho to submit reports highlighting safety concerns and deteriorating facilities at Ganglim Outpost. The goal is simple: justify shutting down the outpost and merging it with another unit. Chun-ik frames it as a way for Seok-ho to prove his loyalty and earn his trust.

Meanwhile, Seong-jae cannot stop worrying about Ye-rin’s situation. Chef’s Path suggests that the best way to help her is by reaching out directly to regimental commander Won-young. Seong-jae shares the idea with Dong-hyun and the other soldiers from his barracks, and they decide it’s worth attempting despite the slim chances of success.

Their plan revolves around something unusual. Won-young is known for being extremely devoted to his daughter and regularly attending religious activities on weekends. The soldiers decide to make chocolate cookies and find a way to attend the same events, hoping they can meet him there.

Thanks to Chef’s Path’s upgraded features, Seong-jae now has access to dessert recipes and successfully prepares the cookies. Everything seems ready until they discover one important detail, Won-young’s beloved daughter is actually a Pomeranian dog.

That revelation completely changes the strategy.

Since chocolate cookies are obviously not an option anymore, the group turns to Jae-young for help. He provides ingredients for dog treats, and the soldiers spend the next week experimenting with recipes. They work tirelessly to create potato-and-meatball treats that are both safe for dogs and worthy of a gourmet menu.

The effort finally pays off on Sunday.

At church, they encounter Won-young and his dog, So-yul. The moment of truth arrives when So-yul tries Seong-jae’s homemade treat. Thankfully, the dog loves it.

With Won-young finally willing to listen, Seong-jae and the others explain everything they know about Min-gu’s behavior and the suspicious food supply situation. Rather than dismissing them, Won-young immediately takes action. He places a call, requests a full report on the food supply operations, and orders another inspection to be conducted.

Once Won-young becomes involved, Chun-ik realizes the corruption can no longer be hidden.

Instead of accepting responsibility, he sacrifices Min-gu. Using Min-gu’s connection to Major Im’s previous case, Chun-ik positions him as the sole culprit behind the fraudulent purchases and corruption. It is a calculated move designed to protect himself while shifting all blame onto his subordinate.

Chun-ik then approaches Seok-ho with another proposal. He asks him to help manage the fallout and promises to reward him with Min-gu’s position if he cooperates. His priority is making sure the scandal does not damage the battalion’s reputation.

To Seok-ho, the explanation feels suspicious. He knows Min-gu has always been ambitious, but greed for power is different from greed for money. Deep down, he suspects Chun-ik knew exactly what was happening all along. Still, Chun-ik manages to deflect those concerns and once again pressures Seok-ho to demonstrate his loyalty.

After her release, Ye-rin personally thanks Seong-jae for helping her through the crisis. She worries that his decision to speak up could create problems with other soldiers in the future. Seong-jae’s response is simple but meaningful. As long as Ye-rin stands beside him, he says he has nothing to fear.

The moment carries additional significance when Ye-rin’s likability score reaches 100 points, officially adding her as a colleague within Chef’s Path.

One of the episode’s most surprising scenes arrives shortly afterward. Seok-ho summons Seong-jae to his office. Instead of reprimanding him for bypassing the chain of command, he thanks him. Seok-ho acknowledges that Seong-jae solved a problem he himself could not handle and praises his courage.

Unfortunately, not everything has changed.

The order to close Ganglim Outpost remains active. Following Chun-ik’s instructions, Seok-ho informs Ye-rin that the closure process will continue. Ye-rin argues that it could easily be viewed as retaliation after the corruption investigation, but Seok-ho insists that the decision comes from higher authorities and is beyond their control.

Just when it seems the situation cannot become any more stressful, Chef’s Path delivers a new mission.

Seong-jae has only fourteen days to win the division cooking competition and save Ganglim Outpost. Failure will result not only in the outpost’s closure but also in the end of Chef’s Path itself.

It’s a massive challenge and easily the biggest stake the series has introduced so far.

Episode 10 Review

Episode 10 finally pushes the corruption storyline into the open, and I found that incredibly satisfying after weeks of buildup. The reveal that Chun-ik sits at the center of the operation isn’t exactly shocking, but seeing him immediately sacrifice Min-gu to protect himself tells us everything we need to know about his character.

The standout section of the episode was unquestionably Seong-jae’s mission to reach Won-young. What could have been a simple investigation subplot turned into one of the funniest and most charming sequences in the series. The reveal that the commander was obsessed with his Pomeranian caught me completely off guard, and watching the soldiers spend an entire week perfecting gourmet dog treats was unexpectedly entertaining.

At the same time, the episode highlights one of the show’s most frustrating characters: Seok-ho. Time and time again, he recognizes that something is wrong but refuses to take a firm stand. His reluctance forces others to take risks while he remains caught between self-preservation and responsibility. By this point, it’s becoming difficult to sympathize with his indecision.

The final quest raises the stakes significantly. With Ganglim Outpost’s future now tied directly to a cooking competition, the series has created a clear objective heading into the next chapter. If the corruption plot provided the tension, this new challenge provides the urgency.

Episode 10 balances political maneuvering, character development, comedy, and rising stakes effectively. Most importantly, it sets up a compelling race against time that should make the next episodes even more engaging.
