Teach You A Lesson Episode 3 Recap
Episode 3 of Teach You A Lesson opens with a heartbreaking look into the past. Before tragedy changed everything, Ga-yun spends time walking through a park with Hwa-jin, who is home from military service on leave. When she notices several students smoking, she immediately steps in and tells them to stop. Watching her stand up for what she believes in leaves Hwa-jin smiling with pride.
The episode quickly shifts from that warm memory to one of the darkest moments in Hwa-jin’s life: the trial of Ga-yun’s killer, Cho Gyu-cheol.
During his final statement, Gyu-cheol claims that he murdered Ga-yun because he loved her. Despite the severity of the crime, his status as a minor results in a sentence of only two to four years in prison. The verdict leaves Hwa-jin shattered.
Outside the courthouse, his grief boils over. Unable to accept the outcome, he attempts to run Gyu-cheol over with his car. Before he can reach him, Gang-seok crashes into the vehicle and stops him. Later, Gang-seok speaks to Hwa-jin privately and urges him to be patient. He also shares his long-term vision: once he becomes Education Minister, he plans to create the Educational Rights Protection Bureau, better known as the ERPB.
Back in the present day, Hwa-jin meets Gang-seok and Geun-de to discuss a disturbing case involving Soyeon Girls’ School. A teacher has died by suicide after being publicly accused of sexually assaulting a student.
Hwa-jin points out that the teacher was effectively judged by the public before any proper investigation took place. The accusations spread through a viral video, and public opinion moved much faster than the facts. Geun-de then explains why the case exploded online so quickly. The student at the center of it all, Han Ye-ri, is a social media influencer with roughly 600,000 followers.
A flashback reveals how everything started.
During class, Ye-ri is livestreaming when her teacher, Jung Seon-yeong, tells her to stop using her phone. Angry about being disciplined, Ye-ri edits footage of Ms. Jung helping a student remove gum from her hair. Through careful editing, she makes the interaction look like bullying and uploads the video online.
The damage spreads almost immediately.
Ye-ri’s homeroom teacher, Mr. Ko Yeong-su, tries to handle the situation calmly and offers to convince her to remove the video. Instead, she escalates things by posting another video accusing him of sexual harassment.
The accusation goes viral.
Public backlash forces Mr. Ko to resign, and the pressure becomes unbearable. He eventually takes his own life, while his spouse becomes the target of relentless online abuse. It is one of the episode’s most devastating developments, and watching it unfold is incredibly frustrating because viewers already know the accusation is false.
Things only get worse from there.
When Ms. Jung confronts Ye-ri about her behavior, Ye-ri pretends that Mr. Ko sexually assaulted her and livestreams the conversation. The clip sends another wave of outrage toward the teachers. Soon, Ms. Jung becomes the next victim of Ye-ri’s followers.
Rather than challenge Ye-ri, the school principal attempts to appease her. He asks her to remove the videos and promises to support her influencer activities. In return, Ye-ri demands that Ms. Jung become the class homeroom teacher.
In the present timeline, Hwa-jin informs Gang-seok that he has recruited a new member for the ERPB: former soldier Im Han-rim.
Gang-seok assigns the team to closely monitor the case. Hwa-jin will oversee the investigation while Geun-de provides technical support.
Han-rim arrives at Soyeon Girls’ School disguised as a trainee teacher and wastes no time making an impression. She immediately notices the disrespectful way Ye-ri and her classmates treat Ms. Jung. When Ye-ri refuses to stop livestreaming, Han-rim smashes her phone.
Not long afterward, Hwa-jin arrives and officially announces that the ERPB is investigating the school.
The Ministry of Education installs monitoring equipment throughout the campus. Han-rim confiscates student phones, while Geun-de helps track down backup devices hidden by the students. At the same time, Hwa-jin encourages teachers to report any incidents of student harassment, despite the principal insisting that no such problems exist.
Later, Han-rim shares a meal with Hwa-jin and Geun-de. The former soldiers reconnect while joking around with Geun-de, creating one of the lighter moments in an otherwise heavy episode.
Han-rim then forces Ye-ri and her classmates to participate in classroom cleaning duties. Not everyone is pleased about it.
Meanwhile, another student secretly records a conversation between Han-rim and Ms. Jung. The incident raises further concerns about how closely the students monitor their teachers.
As the investigation continues, Han-rim becomes convinced that Ms. Jung is being systematically harassed. Hwa-jin agrees to speak with the teacher personally, while Geun-de begins monitoring the students’ online activity.
The following day, Han-rim discovers evidence showing that Ye-ri and her friends have been mocking Ms. Jung online without her knowledge. She immediately disciplines them.
For the first time, cracks begin to appear within Ye-ri’s circle. Some students start questioning whether her accusations against Mr. Ko were actually true. Feeling pressure from all sides, Ye-ri vows to find a way to get the ERPB off her back.
Meanwhile, Ms. Jung struggles with the emotional toll of the harassment.
She considers resigning and reaches out to a friend about tutoring work. The response she receives is polite but painful. Her friend indirectly rejects her by mentioning the rumors surrounding her name. It becomes painfully clear that the damage to her reputation has spread far beyond the school.
Soon after, Ye-ri and her friends suddenly start treating Ms. Jung with kindness.
Han-rim immediately suspects an ulterior motive and warns the teacher not to trust them too easily. Ms. Jung, however, wants to believe the students are finally changing because of the ERPB’s intervention.
Unfortunately, Han-rim’s instincts prove correct.
One evening, Ye-ri invites Ms. Jung onto a livestream to demonstrate that they supposedly have a good relationship. During the conversation, she pressures the teacher to criticize the ERPB and claim that the organization is making life difficult for students.
The request overwhelms Ms. Jung.
She suffers a panic attack at school, and Hwa-jin is the one who helps calm her down. During their conversation, he speaks openly about Ga-yun and the student who murdered her.
Then comes one of the episode’s most emotional moments.
Hwa-jin reveals that the ERPB became involved because several students filed a complaint asking the bureau to protect Ms. Jung from Ye-ri. Reading the message brings Ms. Jung to tears. Hwa-jin reminds her that while some students have hurt her, others genuinely care about her well-being.
The next day, Ms. Jung enters the classroom with a completely different mindset.
When Ye-ri asks about the livestream, she refuses. Then she calls Ye-ri to the front of the class, presents her with a math problem, and strikes her palm as punishment. Ms. Jung firmly declares that she will no longer be intimidated and refuses to end class until Ye-ri solves the problem.
Watching her finally stand her ground feels incredibly satisfying after everything she has endured.
Han-rim is thrilled to see the teacher regain her confidence.
Ye-ri, however, has no intention of stopping. She turns to social media once again, hoping to continue her campaign. This time, Geun-de strikes back.
He deletes Ye-ri’s social media account and uploads evidence showing that she fabricated the assault allegation against Mr. Ko. The footage exposes her lies and destroys the narrative she spent so long building.
The fallout is immediate.
Desperate and emotionally unstable, Ye-ri goes to Ms. Jung’s apartment carrying a knife. She threatens to kill the teacher before taking her own life, blaming Ms. Jung for everything that has happened.
A violent struggle breaks out.
During the confrontation, Ms. Jung falls from the balcony. My heart was racing during this sequence. Just when it seems too late, Hwa-jin arrives and catches her. Both of them fall, but Hwa-jin lands on his back and saves her life.
At the same time, Han-rim confronts Ye-ri and orders her to drop the knife.
When Ye-ri refuses, Han-rim grabs the blade with her bare hand. The scene is intense and shocking. She threatens to push Ye-ri from the balcony but ultimately chooses another path. Instead of allowing Ye-ri an easy escape, she tells her to live with the consequences of her actions.
Afterward, Geun-de treats Han-rim’s injured hand while Hwa-jin recovers from his own injuries.
The following day, Gang-seok announces the results of the case and reveals that the ERPB will actively monitor student social media activity moving forward.
But just as one battle ends, another begins.
Gang-seok’s political rival and his allies prepare a press conference aimed directly at the ERPB. Their goal is to expose what they believe are Gang-seok and Hwa-jin’s personal motivations. They argue that the bureau exists not to protect schools, but to avenge Ga-yun’s death.
With those accusations hanging over the organization, Episode 3 closes on a tense note.
Episode 3 Review
This series continues to build momentum with each episode. The case involving Han Ye-ri was frustrating to watch at times, but that’s exactly what made it effective. Seeing how easily manipulated videos and social media influence destroyed lives was genuinely disturbing.
The strongest part of the episode was Ms. Jung’s journey. Watching her go from fear and self-doubt to finally standing up for herself created one of the most satisfying moments of the season so far. I was cheering when she refused to back down in front of her class.
Han-rim also proves to be an excellent addition to the ERPB. She brings a tougher and more aggressive presence that balances Hwa-jin’s calmer approach. Her confrontation with Ye-ri in the finale was one of the episode’s standout scenes.
The biggest mystery remains the opposition targeting Gang-seok and the ERPB. Their argument that the bureau exists solely because of Ga-yun’s murder feels questionable, especially when this very episode shows multiple victims suffering from student-driven abuse. Still, the political conflict adds another layer of tension moving forward.
Three episodes in, Teach You A Lesson has successfully combined school violence, cyberbullying, and institutional failure into a story that remains consistently engaging. With the ERPB now facing political scrutiny, I’m eager to see how Hwa-jin and his team respond in Episode 4.
