Teach You A Lesson Episode 4 Recap
Episode 4 of Teach You A Lesson opens with tension already building around the ERPB. Gang-seok and the team watch a press conference held by their opponents, who continue pushing allegations against the bureau. Han-rim immediately questions Hwa-jin about the accusations, reminding him about their previous meeting with Gang-seok. Although Hwa-jin doesn’t reveal much, it’s clear the pressure surrounding the ERPB is growing.
At the same time, Geun-de quietly prepares an application to transfer out of the team. Gang-seok catches him in the act and refuses to approve the request, demanding a better explanation. Before that issue can go any further, the ERPB receives a new case involving Chukmyeong Foreign Language High School. A video showing a student physically attacking a teacher quickly becomes their next investigation.
Hwa-jin, Han-rim, and Geun-de arrive at the prestigious school to look into the incident. Geun-de explains that the victim, teacher Cheon Sang-yeol, is widely respected and played a major role in building the school’s reputation. What surprises everyone is Hwa-jin’s reaction. Instead of being suspicious, he openly praises Mr. Cheon and even thanks him for helping him through EBS training lectures in the past.
Honestly, this was the first moment that made me pause. Hwa-jin’s behavior felt completely out of character.
When Hwa-jin privately questions Mr. Cheon about the assault, the teacher refuses to discuss what happened. Meanwhile, Han-rim meets the student responsible, Park Hyeon-ung. Instead of defending himself, Hyeon-ung simply tells her to punish him however she wants. His cold attitude only makes the case harder to understand.
The mystery deepens when Geun-de reveals that Hyeon-ung is actually one of the school’s top-performing students. Nothing about the situation makes sense. Han-rim pushes him for answers and even threatens to contact his parents. The mention of his family immediately triggers an angry reaction, and Hyeon-ung nearly attacks her before she manages to stop him.
As the investigation continues, Mr. Cheon explains that he created additional classes for struggling students. According to him, Hyeon-ung hated the program because he already excelled academically and viewed the extra classes as pointless. Mr. Cheon also mentions visiting Hyeon-ung’s parents after they failed to attend a PTA meeting. He insists he has no idea why the student suddenly turned against him.
Hyeon-ung tells a very different story.
He claims Mr. Cheon has been actively interfering with his life. Not long after the teacher visited his family, their restaurant was forced to close. His private tutor also stopped teaching him after Mr. Cheon learned about the arrangement. From Hyeon-ung’s perspective, the teacher has been sabotaging every opportunity he has.
Han-rim begins to sympathize with the student and asks Hwa-jin to consider his side of the story. Their disagreement quickly turns personal. She accuses Hwa-jin of automatically siding with teachers because of what happened to Ga-yun. The comment clearly hurts him. Frustrated, Hwa-jin tells her that if she no longer trusts him or Gang-seok, she should leave the ERPB altogether.
While tensions rise inside the team, Geun-de continues investigating. He visits Hyeon-ung’s former academy, though the tutor refuses to cooperate. During the visit, he unexpectedly reunites with Hyeong-ju. Seong-hwan and In-beom also appear, and for a brief moment the episode slows down enough to show the boys getting along together.
That evening, Geun-de finds Han-rim running laps to blow off steam. A flashback reveals why she cares so deeply about Hwa-jin’s opinion. Years earlier, when she was being bullied in school, Hwa-jin stepped in to help her and encouraged her to seek support instead of suffering alone. The memory forces Han-rim to reflect on her own actions.
The following day, Hwa-jin finally reveals what he has been investigating.
He points out that many students in Mr. Cheon’s class come from wealthy families and attend the same elite academy. Despite lacking those advantages, Hyeon-ung consistently outperforms them. Hwa-jin then identifies a possible motive. If Hyeon-ung were suspended, a wealthy student named Jung Su-jeong would move into the school’s Top 10 rankings.
The accusations don’t stop there.
Hwa-jin reveals that Mr. Cheon once taught Ye-ri during elementary school. He accuses the teacher of repeatedly disadvantaging capable students for the benefit of powerful families. A flashback to Hwa-jin’s prison visit with Ye-ri supports his suspicions, exposing a pattern of manipulation that stretches back years.
Even then, Mr. Cheon continues denying everything.
Soon after, viewers see a private meeting between Mr. Cheon and Su-jeong’s mother. The truth finally comes out. Concerned about her daughter’s ranking, she pressures him to guarantee a Top 10 finish. Mr. Cheon promises to handle the situation and secretly hands her the answer key for an upcoming exam.
At the same time, Han-rim vents her frustrations to Geun-de. That’s when she learns the truth behind Hwa-jin’s strange behavior. He never admired Mr. Cheon at all. He only pretended to gain the teacher’s trust and gather evidence.
That revelation completely changed how I viewed the earlier scenes.
Feeling guilty, Han-rim later apologizes to Hwa-jin. He tells her to stop blaming herself and warns the team that Mr. Cheon is already preparing his next move.
His prediction proves accurate almost immediately.
Police officers suddenly arrest both Hwa-jin and Han-rim over allegations that they assaulted students during previous ERPB cases. At the same time, authorities raid the Ministry of Education and launch investigations into Gang-seok. False claims involving tax evasion and abuse of power begin piling up.
Hwa-jin immediately suspects Mr. Cheon is behind the attacks. He believes the goal is simple: keep them locked up until the school exams are finished.
While sitting in custody alongside Hwa-jin and Han-rim, Gang-seok unexpectedly agrees to approve Geun-de’s transfer request. The moment feels strangely emotional because it arrives during one of the team’s lowest points.
Elsewhere, Gang-seok’s political rival pushes for a Board of Education meeting through Lee Cheol-myeon.
The next day, Su-jeong enters the exam room feeling completely confident after memorizing the leaked answers. Her confidence disappears when she learns every practice paper she completed throughout the week has received a score of zero.
At the same time, Gang-seok, Hwa-jin, and Han-rim are released.
While Gang-seok attends the board meeting, Hwa-jin and Han-rim return to the school. Suddenly, Mr. Cheon attempts to halt the examination, claiming the test papers have been tampered with.
A flashback reveals the truth.
On the night of their arrest, Gang-seok and Hwa-jin secretly had Geun-de alter the exam papers. After overhearing Mr. Cheon’s arrangement with Su-jeong’s mother, Geun-de rearranged the questions and rendered the stolen answer key worthless.
It was a satisfying reveal and one of the smartest moves the team has pulled off so far.
Cornered, Mr. Cheon continues denying the accusations. Hwa-jin and Han-rim respond by exposing Su-jeong’s answer sheet and presenting a recording of Mr. Cheon accepting money from her mother. The evidence leaves little room for excuses.
Even then, Mr. Cheon refuses to admit what he did.
As chaos erupts, Su-jeong desperately tries to erase the answers written on her hand, but Han-rim catches her before she can destroy the evidence.
Meanwhile, Gang-seok faces his opponents during the Board of Education meeting. They present witnesses and evidence aimed at dismantling the ERPB. Instead of defending himself, Gang-seok shifts the conversation toward the results of the Chukmyeong investigation. He exposes Mr. Cheon’s corruption and reveals that Lee Cheol-myeon was also involved in bribery.
Gang-seok argues that the ERPB was created to protect victims regardless of whether they are students or teachers. The argument lands exactly where it needs to.
By the end of the hearing, Mr. Cheon is arrested. The parents who bribed him are investigated and banned from leaving the country.
Later, Hyeon-ung personally thanks Han-rim and the ERPB for helping him clear his name. The episode closes with Hwa-jin bringing Mr. Cheon to meet Ye-ri. Still carrying the scars of what happened to her, Ye-ri lashes out at the teacher and blames him for destroying her future out of greed.
It’s a powerful final scene that leaves Mr. Cheon with nowhere left to hide.
Episode 4 Review
This episode did a great job making me question Hwa-jin’s motives. For most of the investigation, I honestly wondered whether he was overlooking obvious warning signs because of his respect for teachers. Watching him praise Mr. Cheon so enthusiastically felt incredibly suspicious, which made the eventual reveal much more satisfying.
I also found myself feeling increasingly protective of Geun-de. Even though he’s becoming a natural part of the ERPB team, his reunion with Hyeong-ju and the other boys carried a hint of sadness. The way he watched them interact made me wonder whether he misses having friends his own age.
Han-rim’s backstory added another strong layer to the episode. Learning that Hwa-jin once helped her through bullying explained why their conflict hurt both of them so much. Their relationship feels more meaningful now because there’s a history behind the trust they share.
The political storyline also became more interesting. Watching Gang-seok turn the tables during the Board of Education meeting was incredibly satisfying, but it also raised more questions about his opponents. The determination to destroy the ERPB feels too intense to be random, which makes me suspect there’s a much bigger secret waiting to be exposed.
Overall, Episode 4 balanced mystery, character development, and revenge exceptionally well. The school case wrapped up in a rewarding way, but the growing political battle surrounding the ERPB may end up becoming an even bigger threat moving forward.
