Teach You A Lesson Episode 7 Recap and Review: Geun-de’s Undercover Mission Takes a Dangerous Turn

Teach You A Lesson Episode 7 Recap

Episode 7 of Teach You A Lesson shines a spotlight on the growing problem of online gambling among teenagers, and honestly, this might be one of the show’s most frustrating episodes to watch, in a good way. Seeing how quickly these students get pulled into debt and manipulation was difficult, especially knowing how easily it all started.

The episode opens with Gyu-cheol receiving medical treatment after his recent injuries. He offers an apology to Hwa-jin for everything that happened to Ga-yun, but it doesn’t take long to realize there’s no sincerity behind his words. The apology feels hollow, and Hwa-jin sees right through it.

Not long after, Gang-seok checks in on Hwa-jin following the encounter. Before they can dwell on it for long, both men attend an ERPB meeting where a new case lands on their desk.

A desperate father named Mr. Lee arrives seeking help. His son, Lee Jae-yun, has gone missing after becoming addicted to online gambling games. According to Mr. Lee, Jae-yun previously spent so much money on a gaming application that the family was forced to pay back an 85 million-won debt. Even after going through that ordeal, Jae-yun eventually returned to gambling and found himself trapped in debt once again.

At one point, Mr. Lee destroys his son’s phone out of frustration. Unfortunately, that doesn’t solve the problem. Jae-yun simply borrows another device from his friend Seong-bin and continues gambling. His debts continue to grow until he eventually disappears without any way for his family to contact him.

To investigate, the ERPB sends Geun-de undercover at Nakwon High School. There, he meets Seong-bin and begins learning how these gambling games spread among students. It quickly becomes clear that Jae-yun is far from the only victim. A large number of students have already become addicted.

After hearing Geun-de’s findings, Gang-seok promises to push government agencies into taking stronger action against those who promote gambling and betting games to minors. Meanwhile, Hwa-jin gives Geun-de a more direct assignment—join Seong-bin’s circle and experience the system from the inside.

Seong-bin introduces Geun-de to the platform through a referral code. At first, everything seems harmless. Geun-de wins several games and enjoys early success. That’s exactly what makes the situation so dangerous.

Before long, the wins disappear.

Geun-de starts losing money, and the losses pile up quickly. When he tells Seong-bin about his financial troubles, Seong-bin introduces him to another solution. Since he works with loan sharks, he offers Geun-de money so he can continue gambling.

Of course, there’s a catch.

The loan already includes advance interest deductions, placing Geun-de in a nearly impossible situation from the start.

Later, Geun-de explains everything to Hwa-jin and Han-rim. The numbers are shocking. Because of compound interest, a one-million-won loan could eventually balloon into nearly 45 million won. Shortly afterward, Han-rim receives a threatening call from the loan sharks demanding repayment. Rather than showing fear, she bluntly tells them they can do whatever they want with Geun-de.

The following day, Geun-de prepares to meet the loan sharks while Han-rim watches from outside the school. Although she promises to stay close, she briefly leaves her position after becoming distracted by snacks.

That small mistake has serious consequences.

While Han-rim is away, the loan sharks kidnap Geun-de along with several other students who owe them money. Their phones are confiscated, but Geun-de manages to throw his device out of the vehicle before the criminals notice.

Once Han-rim realizes he’s gone, panic sets in immediately. She contacts Hwa-jin and the search begins.

Meanwhile, the kidnapped students are forced into criminal activity. The gang orders them to steal from stores and rob people in order to repay their debts.

As Hwa-jin and Han-rim review CCTV footage, Gang-seok uses his connections to identify the vehicle involved in the abduction. Han-rim blames herself for what happened, but Hwa-jin reminds her that finding Geun-de is more important than dwelling on mistakes.

That night, Geun-de is brought to the gang’s hideout.

Inside, he discovers several high school students working under the criminals’ control. Among them is Jae-yun, who is being forced to send spam messages to lure in future victims.

Geun-de tries to contact the ERPB through one of the available devices, but Jae-yun stops him. He explains that the operation is constantly monitored and any suspicious behavior will be noticed immediately.

The warning comes too late.

Gang members notice the boys talking and respond with violence. Jae-yun is beaten before everyone is ordered back to work.

Trying to help, Geun-de offers his technical expertise when he notices problems with the gang’s server. His skills catch the criminals’ attention, and they bring him upstairs to meet the boss. The gang leader instructs him to set up a proxy server for their operation.

Back downstairs, Jae-yun’s condition worsens. Exhausted from nonstop work and repeated beatings, he eventually collapses.

Elsewhere, Han-rim brings Seong-bin to ERPB headquarters for questioning. While examining the gambling website, she discovers something unusual hidden within the system. Geun-de has secretly embedded Morse code messages.

That discovery changes everything.

After decoding the message, Han-rim and Hwa-jin successfully trace the location of the hideout. They waste no time launching a raid.

Watching the rescue unfold was incredibly satisfying. Hwa-jin and Han-rim move through the building with the confidence of former soldiers, overwhelming the gang members with little difficulty. Han-rim’s relief is obvious the moment she finds Geun-de safe.

While Han-rim stays behind to protect the students, Hwa-jin heads deeper into the building to capture the loan sharks and their leader.

The boss attempts to run, but Hwa-jin catches him before he can escape. Furious over the damage caused to countless students and families, Hwa-jin brutally beats the man responsible for the operation.

Eventually, the criminals are arrested and Jae-yun is transported to the hospital.

Afterward, Han-rim apologizes to Geun-de and promises to keep a closer eye on him moving forward.

Mr. Lee later thanks Gang-seok for helping find his son. Hwa-jin also reveals to Jae-yun that Seong-bin had been working alongside the criminals. Rather than simply lecturing the boys, he explains how their gambling addiction has hurt their parents as much as it has hurt them.

He encourages both teenagers to take responsibility and work toward repaying the money their families lost. As part of that lesson, he immediately puts them to work washing dishes.

Even then, the issue isn’t completely resolved.

Han-rim notices that Geun-de still seems vulnerable to gambling addiction despite everything that happened. Concerned, she takes him to Hwa-jin for counseling as well.

In the episode’s final moments, the focus shifts back to politics.

Gang-seok crosses paths with his political rival, Hwang Gi-tae, whose popularity appears to be slipping. Gi-tae accuses Gang-seok of exploiting his late daughter for political gain.

Gang-seok fires back with a warning of his own, suggesting that Gi-tae should pay more attention to members of his own party who are already discussing his future ahead of the presidential election.

The revelation leaves Gi-tae visibly shaken.

Desperate for leverage, he seeks out Gyu-cheol. The episode closes with the two men discussing how they can use Ga-yun’s death against Gang-seok.

Teach You A Lesson Episode 7 Review

Teach You A Lesson Episode 7 delivers one of the series’ strongest cautionary stories so far. The gambling case feels especially unsettling because of how quickly the students become trapped. What begins as a few easy wins turns into debt, exploitation, and outright criminal activity. Watching Geun-de fall into the same cycle made the danger feel much more real.

The rescue sequence was easily the highlight of the episode. Geun-de’s hidden Morse code message was a clever touch, and seeing Han-rim and Hwa-jin storm the hideout provided a much-needed payoff after all the tension.

The political subplot also looks ready to take center stage. Now that Gi-tae and Gyu-cheol have joined forces, Gang-seok may be facing a threat that’s far more dangerous than any single criminal case. I have a feeling the truth surrounding Ga-yun’s death will become increasingly important in the episodes ahead.

Another detail that stood out was Han-rim’s growing concern for Geun-de. She may not openly admit it, but her reaction after his disappearance said more than words ever could. Even Hwa-jin seems to notice the change. Their dynamic continues to be one of the most enjoyable parts of the series, and Episode 7 gives it a little more room to develop without taking attention away from the main story.
