Teach You A Lesson Episode 10 Recap and Ending Explained: Hwa-jin Takes Down Gyu-cheol

Teach You A Lesson Episode 10 Recap

The finale of Teach You A Lesson wastes no time picking up the fallout from Chi-ho’s rooftop incident. As the series heads into its final chapter, Hwa-jin finds himself fighting on multiple fronts. The ERPB is under attack, public opinion has shifted, and Gyu-cheol is using the chaos to expand his influence across Jinwon High School.

By the end of the episode, long-buried truths finally come to light, old wounds are reopened, and Hwa-jin is forced to decide whether revenge is worth sacrificing everything he stands for.

The ERPB Faces Its Biggest Crisis

The episode opens with Hwa-jin and Geun-de discussing Chi-ho’s fall from the rooftop. Unfortunately, the available CCTV footage doesn’t provide any clear answers. The cameras only show Chi-ho speaking with someone before the incident, leaving everyone wondering what really happened that night.

Meanwhile, Hwa-jin confronts Gyu-cheol directly. He accuses him of trying to eliminate the ERPB in order to continue his drug operation without interference. The confrontation quickly becomes personal when Gyu-cheol speaks disrespectfully about Ga-yun, pushing Hwa-jin over the edge.

The punch heard around the school soon becomes a viral story online.

The backlash is immediate. The ERPB is forced to shut down, and Gi-tae eagerly uses the situation to weaken the bureau’s credibility. Students stop cooperating with the organization and instead begin supporting Gyu-cheol. Watching everything fall apart this quickly was frustrating because it felt like years of effort were being erased overnight.

The Truth About Ga-yun’s Death

One of the episode’s most important revelations comes through a flashback that finally explains what happened between Gyu-cheol and Ga-yun.

Ga-yun had been trying to help him turn his life around. She pushed him to attend school regularly and encouraged him to leave his criminal lifestyle behind. Rather than changing, Gyu-cheol looked for another way to satisfy her expectations while continuing his own ambitions.

He began using students to distribute drugs.

At first, Ga-yun seemed impressed by what she believed was progress. That illusion shattered when she discovered drugs hidden in his bag. She immediately threw them away.

That decision triggered Gyu-cheol’s rage.

In a heartbreaking moment, he stabbed and killed the very teacher who had been trying to save him. Knowing the full story made Ga-yun’s loss feel even more tragic. She never stopped believing he could become a better person.

Gyu-cheol Expands His Drug Network

With the ERPB gone, Gyu-cheol moves quickly.

He recruits several students, including Seong-gu, to transport drugs throughout the school system. The operation grows rapidly because he offers commissions, making it easy to lure students into participating.

Before long, the consequences become impossible to ignore.

Seong-gu notices that more students are becoming involved not only in selling and transporting drugs but also in consuming them. Alarmed by what he sees, he attempts to reach Hwa-jin for help. Unfortunately, Gyu-cheol and his associates prevent him from making contact.

The deeper the business grows, the more students become trapped in it.

Hwa-jin’s Secret Plan

What initially looks like a devastating defeat turns out to be part of a larger strategy.

Hwa-jin intentionally punched Gyu-cheol and allowed events to unfold so he could uncover the full extent of the drug operation. While the public believes the ERPB is finished, Hwa-jin quietly launches a covert investigation.

Gang-seok begins reaching out to teachers whom the ERPB helped in previous cases. One by one, they agree to assist.

Ms. Choi joins the effort, along with numerous other educators.

Together, they collect drugs from around the school and secretly pass the evidence to the ERPB.

At the same time, Han-rim and Geun-de work undercover among the students. Geun-de also enlists Seong-hwan and In-beom to pressure drug peddlers and place large orders. Their goal is simple: drain Gyu-cheol’s supply before more students can get access to it.

I really enjoyed seeing everyone contribute here. The operation felt like a payoff for all the relationships the ERPB built throughout the season.

The Final Confrontation With Gyu-cheol

Eventually, Gang-seok exposes Gyu-cheol’s entire network, allowing the ERPB to return to Jinwon High School and resume its investigation.

Hwa-jin leads the search for the drugs, but Gyu-cheol and his associates manage to escape before they can be arrested.

Things become even more chaotic during the operation when Han-rim accidentally inhales some of the drugs. Under their influence, she attacks Gyu-cheol’s associates. Geun-de stays behind to help her recover while Hwa-jin continues the pursuit alone.

The chase leads directly to Gyu-cheol. Desperate to protect himself, Gyu-cheol threatens Seong-gu’s life. He then attempts to stab Hwa-jin. At the same time, one of Gyu-cheol’s allies attacks Seong-gu.

In one of the episode’s most intense moments, Hwa-jin chooses to protect the student and takes the stab wound himself. My jaw dropped during this sequence because it perfectly captured who Hwa-jin is. Even after everything he had endured, protecting a student remained his first priority.

Han-rim eventually regains control and stops the attacker, bringing the confrontation to an end.

Does Hwa-jin Forgive Gyu-cheol?

After everything that happened, Hwa-jin finally gets the chance to unleash his anger. He punches Gyu-cheol repeatedly and leaves him completely defeated.

Even then, Gyu-cheol continues trying to provoke him. He brings up Ga-yun’s final words in an effort to push Hwa-jin beyond his limits.

But Hwa-jin refuses.

Instead of surrendering to revenge, he tells Gyu-cheol to try rebuilding his life one day. He believes that giving someone another chance is what Ga-yun would have wanted.

It’s a powerful moment because Hwa-jin has every reason to hate him. Yet he chooses restraint when it would have been easier to choose violence.

Gyu-cheol is arrested once again.

Gang-seok initially remains calm and assures everyone that justice will be served. However, the moment he sees Hwa-jin’s injuries, his composure disappears. He nearly attacks Gyu-cheol himself, revealing just how much he cares about him.

Gang-seok’s Message to the Nation

Following the operation, Gang-seok publicly addresses the people of South Korea.

He speaks about the sacrifices made by teachers and students who work to protect the education system. He also promises that the ERPB will continue helping victims regardless of whether they are students, teachers, or parents.

Afterward, Gang-seok and Hwa-jin visit Ga-yun’s grave alongside Han-rim and Geun-de.

The visit serves as a quiet emotional farewell, but it also provides one of the episode’s lighter moments as Hwa-jin and Gang-seok notice Han-rim and Geun-de awkwardly avoiding their feelings for each other.

Teach You A Lesson Season 1 Ending Explained

The finale closes with a glimpse of what comes next.

At Kangju High School, Geun-de tries to imitate Hwa-jin by confronting a bully while dressed similarly to him. His confidence quickly disappears when he realizes the student is much more intimidating than expected.

Han-rim joins him, but neither of them can handle the situation effectively. Naturally, Hwa-jin arrives to save the day.

Elsewhere, Gi-tae is arrested for his connection to Gyu-cheol. Even in custody, he vows to bring down Gang-seok once he gets out of prison.

Gang-seok responds in the most Gang-seok way possible.

The season ends with him punching Gi-tae and silencing him for good.

Episode 10 Review

I had a lot of fun with this finale.

The story wrapped up the central conflict while leaving enough room for future cases. The show never hid the fact that it was ultimately about adults stepping in when students are failed by the systems around them, and Episode 10 reinforces that idea from beginning to end.

The strongest part of the finale is Hwa-jin’s decision regarding Gyu-cheol. A revenge-driven ending would have been satisfying on a surface level, especially after learning the truth about Ga-yun. Instead, the series stays true to its lead character. Hwa-jin refuses to become the kind of person he is fighting against.

Gang-seok also delivers some of the episode’s best moments. His reaction after seeing Hwa-jin injured was surprisingly emotional, and their father-son dynamic continues to be one of the show’s most enjoyable relationships.

I also liked the continued teasing of a romance between Han-rim and Geun-de. It’s still in the background, but their awkward interactions add some welcome warmth amid the heavier material.

As a season finale, this episode delivers action, emotional payoffs, and a satisfying victory over Gyu-cheol. More importantly, it leaves the door wide open for additional cases and future stories involving the ERPB.

If the series returns, there’s plenty of room for these characters to keep growing, and I’d gladly watch another season.
