Teach You A Lesson Episode 9 Recap
Episode 9 of Teach You A Lesson opens with growing public outrage outside Jinwon High School. Parents and citizens gather to protest the school’s decision to accept Gyu-cheol, a former juvenile offender whose past continues to follow him wherever he goes.
Inside the ERPB, Gang-seok, Han-rim, and Geun-de discuss the controversy surrounding Gyu-cheol’s return. The Education Minister avoids answering questions about the teenager’s release, leaving even more room for speculation. While everyone else debates the situation from a distance, Hwa-jin chooses a more direct approach. He visits Gyu-cheol at school and makes it clear that their relationship is strictly professional. As an ERPB officer, he will monitor Gyu-cheol’s behavior and determine whether he can safely adapt to student life again.
School life quickly proves difficult. Students constantly label Gyu-cheol a murderer, refusing to let him escape his reputation. He endures the insults without responding, keeping his emotions hidden. During this time, he notices a group of students spending most of their time gaming together.
Later, Gyu-cheol unexpectedly visits the ERPB office with a complaint. He claims that one of his classmates is being bullied. Han-rim immediately distrusts him and wants him removed, but Gang-seok listens. Gyu-cheol casually mentions Ga-yun during the conversation, seemingly trying to provoke a reaction from both Gang-seok and Hwa-jin. Neither of them takes the bait.
Even though Han-rim remains suspicious of Gyu-cheol’s motives, Hwa-jin decides the allegation deserves attention. He heads to Jinwon High School and questions the teacher responsible for Jang Seong-gu’s class. The teacher insists that no bullying is taking place.
Unsatisfied, Hwa-jin speaks directly with Seong-gu. The student also denies being bullied, but small details begin revealing a different story. Hwa-jin notices that Seong-gu’s friends regularly use his mobile hotspot to access online games. Seong-gu defends them and asks Hwa-jin not to interfere, but the situation clearly isn’t as harmless as it appears.
Meanwhile, Geun-de and Han-rim start investigating independently. Their search leads them to a cybercafe where several students spend their time. When Geun-de’s cover is compromised, Han-rim takes over and successfully obtains Lee Chi-ho’s phone.
The information collected exposes the real problem. Chi-ho and his friends have been taking advantage of Seong-gu for a long time. Not only are they exploiting his internet access, but they are also using his online account to scam other people. Things become even worse when one of the scam victims tracks Seong-gu down and physically attacks him, believing he was responsible.
The next day, Seong-gu asks Chi-ho for money, likely hoping for compensation after everything that happened. Chi-ho refuses without hesitation. The conflict soon spreads to their families when Seong-gu’s mother confronts Chi-ho’s mother. Instead of accepting responsibility, Chi-ho counters with an accusation that Seong-gu has been harassing his younger sister.
After questioning her son about his unusual spending habits, Seong-gu’s mother begins uncovering the truth. Around the same time, encouragement from Gyu-cheol gives Seong-gu enough confidence to finally speak honestly with Hwa-jin.
Just as the truth starts surfacing, Chi-ho strikes first. He files a formal complaint claiming that Seong-gu is actually the bully.
The case reaches the school violence committee, and the hearing becomes incredibly frustrating to watch. Hwa-jin attends as Chi-ho is treated like a victim while Seong-gu finds himself in the defendant’s seat.
Seong-gu repeatedly insists that he has been bullied, but the committee demands proof. Witnesses and committee members speak favorably about Chi-ho. Some even argue that Seong-gu willingly helped his friends and was fairly compensated. Chi-ho’s lawyer goes as far as suggesting a written apology to settle the matter.
Watching the system fail Seong-gu was one of the most infuriating parts of the episode. Han-rim is equally furious once she learns how poorly the investigation has been handled.
Unable to cope with the pressure, Seong-gu disappears.
Hwa-jin eventually finds him and offers reassurance. He promises that the ERPB will not abandon him. With the official process clearly compromised, the bureau decides to take a different approach.
Han-rim goes undercover as a transfer student at Jinwon High School.
Her operation is surprisingly simple. She becomes friendly with Chi-ho and his group, then willingly gives them access to her social media accounts and Wi-Fi connection. Predictably, Chi-ho and his friends can’t resist taking advantage of the opportunity.
What they don’t realize is that Han-rim is setting a trap.
By gaining access to their devices, she allows Geun-de to remotely monitor their activities. Using similar methods to those previously used against Seong-gu, Geun-de begins exposing them to the exact same type of online exploitation.
After several days of experiencing the consequences firsthand, Chi-ho finally reaches his breaking point. He lashes out at Han-rim in anger.
That moment is exactly what the ERPB has been waiting for.
Han-rim immediately accuses Chi-ho of harassment and threatens to bring the matter before the school violence committee. This time, however, Hwa-jin arrives with evidence supporting her claims.
Chi-ho desperately denies everything and becomes increasingly aggressive. Hwa-jin points out the irony of the situation, reminding him that he previously used identical tactics against Seong-gu. The final blow comes when Hwa-jin reveals Han-rim’s true identity as an undercover ERPB inspector.
The committee itself is then dissolved because of its obvious bias throughout the investigation.
The tables finally turn. Chi-ho and his family face public embarrassment, while Seong-gu is able to clear his name. Both Seong-gu and his mother express their gratitude toward the ERPB. Even Gyu-cheol thanks Hwa-jin for taking his original report seriously.
For a brief moment, it feels like the case has finally reached a satisfying conclusion.
Later that night, Hwa-jin drives Gang-seok home after a visit to a bar. The two men quietly reflect on Ga-yun and share memories of her, creating one of the episode’s more emotional moments.
Elsewhere, a furious Chi-ho confronts Gyu-cheol. He accuses him of betrayal and blames both him and the ERPB for destroying his future.
Then comes the episode’s most shocking reveal.
A flashback shows that Gyu-cheol was actually the one who encouraged Chi-ho to file the counteraccusation against Seong-gu in the first place. The entire situation was manipulated from the shadows.
Before Chi-ho can do anything else, Gyu-cheol pushes him off the school building.
My jaw dropped during this scene. The series had hinted that Gyu-cheol was dangerous, but this moment confirms just how calculated he truly is.
News of the incident spreads almost immediately.
The following morning, Gyu-cheol visits Gi-tae and leaves behind part of a recording featuring Chi-ho blaming the ERPB for ruining his life. Gi-tae quickly realizes something terrifying: Gyu-cheol may have orchestrated everything from the beginning, including the events that led to his release from prison.
The episode closes with Gi-tae bringing the recording to the hospital where Chi-ho is being treated. He then accuses Gang-seok and the ERPB of pushing a student toward a suicide attempt, setting the stage for an explosive conflict heading into the final stretch of the season.
Episode 9 Review
I really enjoyed how this episode focused on a quieter form of bullying. Not every victim ends up with visible injuries, and Teach You A Lesson did a good job showing how manipulation, social pressure, and exploitation can be just as damaging.
The investigation itself felt lighter than some previous cases, especially during Han-rim’s undercover mission. Watching her switch between intimidating veteran and ordinary high school student continues to be one of the show’s biggest strengths. Every time she goes undercover, she steals the spotlight.
At the same time, the writers are clearly saving the biggest answers for the season finale. The mystery surrounding Ga-yun remains unresolved, but Episode 9 pushes Gyu-cheol much closer to center stage as the story’s primary threat.
What makes Gyu-cheol so unsettling is that he rarely acts impulsively. Every move seems planned several steps ahead. The final twist suggests that he has been manipulating events long before anyone realized it.
As for Chi-ho, the episode doesn’t exactly encourage sympathy. Even after everything that happened, he never showed genuine remorse for exploiting Seong-gu. That doesn’t justify what happened to him, but it does make the situation far more complicated.
With only a few episodes remaining, the battle between the ERPB and Gyu-cheol looks ready to explode. If this ending is any indication, the series is preparing for a very intense finish.
