Episode 6 of Sold Out On You opens with Ye-jin making the boldest decision of her career. During a live broadcast, she shocks both viewers and executives by announcing that HIT will not sell the L’Etoile essence that day. The studio falls into chaos almost instantly. Director Dong is furious, and Ye-jin is immediately told to leave the company building.
As she walks out, emotionally drained but still standing firm, Matthew quietly embraces her outside. At the same moment, Eric arrives at the studio and catches the scene from a distance, clearly unsettled by the closeness between them.
Later, Matthew and Ye-jin spend time by the river together. He tells her she did the right thing, even if nobody else can see it yet. For perhaps the first time in a long while, Ye-jin hears someone support her without conditions. In return, she promises she’ll stand beside him too whenever he needs someone.
Meanwhile, Eric storms into L’Etoile’s laboratory and demands that all production of the essence be halted immediately. His decision quickly sparks backlash from Michelle, who angrily calls him to complain. Despite the pressure, Eric later meets with Director Dong and the HIT board members, where they agree to arrange a follow-up show and retest the product properly.
Online, however, the damage is already spreading. L’Etoile releases a statement denying responsibility, and public criticism lands squarely on Ye-jin instead. Matthew secretly borrows Kwang-mo’s phone to check updates about her situation. He later confronts Eric, who insists the investigation is still ongoing and refuses to fully blame L’Etoile just yet.
Back at HIT, Ye-jin is called in front of the board members. Their conclusion is simple: fire her. But even in that humiliating moment, she refuses to back down. Ye-jin calmly tells them they will eventually realize she made the right decision before leaving the room with dignity intact.
Not long afterward, she visits her doctor to get more sleeping pills. Once again, she’s warned that her insomnia is becoming dangerous and cannot continue like this forever.
Things only grow more emotionally complicated when Ye-jin returns home and finds Myung-hwa waiting for her. Instead of comfort, the meeting turns painful. Myung-hwa begs Ye-jin to promise never to sell cosmetics again, triggering years of buried resentment. Ye-jin fires back, accusing her mother of abandoning her when she needed her most. Their confrontation ends with Myung-hwa storming out in tears.
Elsewhere, Matthew continues obsessively running tests in his lab. Mu-woon notices how exhausted he looks and takes him out to eat, reminding him that the tragedy from the past was never truly his fault.
That same night, Ye-jin’s condition worsens. After taking her medication, she sleepwalks again and unknowingly calls Matthew while wandering dangerously through traffic-filled streets. Realizing she’s outside and vulnerable, Matthew races to find her. He eventually discovers her near the HIT office building, gently protecting her from the crowd before placing his own shoes onto her bare feet.
The next morning, Ye-jin wakes up with bandaged feet and Matthew sitting nearby. He tries to talk seriously about her insomnia and sleepwalking, but she avoids the subject until the emotional weight becomes too much. Breaking down, she admits she already feels like a complete mess.
Meanwhile, tension builds within Eric’s family. Michelle harshly criticizes him for approving the product retest, but Eric finally pushes back. He hints that he’s tired of living under her control and may not continue obeying her forever.
Wanting to help Ye-jin recover, Matthew takes her to Deokpung. Shortly after arriving, she collapses from exhaustion and is rushed to the hospital. A doctor named Jung-muk bluntly tells her she’s completely burned out and desperately needs rest.
After being discharged, the villagers comically pretend they have no spare room available, leaving Ye-jin with no choice but to stay at Matthew’s house.
Their time together in Deokpung becomes the emotional center of the episode.
Matthew insists Ye-jin take the bed while he quietly looks after her in his own thoughtful way. During a walk through town, he reveals that he once suffered from insomnia too. Instead of giving dramatic advice, he simply tells her to stop fighting so hard all the time and learn how to breathe again.
Back in Seoul, Eric receives plane tickets ordering him to return to France, adding another layer of pressure to his already complicated storyline.
In Deokpung, Matthew creates a strict daily routine for Ye-jin, hoping stability will help her recover. Morning runs, scheduled meals, special pillows, lavender scents, he tries every possible method to help her sleep peacefully again.
Slowly, their relationship begins to feel softer and more natural.
One night, Ye-jin notices Matthew wandering strangely around the house. Another evening, she catches him reading poetry alone and quietly joins him. Without realizing it, she eventually falls asleep resting against his shoulder, something she hasn’t managed to do peacefully in a long time.
The next morning, embarrassed by how comfortable she felt, she rushes back to her room.
Later, while Matthew is away for a lab inspection, Ye-jin grows bored and tries cleaning the house, only to realize everything is already spotless. That’s when she finally understands what Matthew had been secretly doing at night: covering every sharp corner and edge inside the house to protect her in case she sleepwalked again.
It’s one of the drama’s quietest moments, but also one of its sweetest.
When Matthew finally returns home late that night, he finds Ye-jin asleep on the couch. As he gently adjusts her position so she can sleep more comfortably, she wakes up halfway, pulls him close, and kisses him while softly admitting she missed him.
Episode 6 Review
By Episode 6, Sold Out On You finally starts settling into its identity. Earlier episodes struggled to balance quirky comedy with emotional storytelling, and the pacing often made Matthew and Ye-jin’s connection feel rushed. Here, though, the drama slows down enough for the emotional beats to actually land.
The strongest part of this episode is easily the healing atmosphere in Deokpung. Instead of forcing dramatic romance, the story focuses on small acts of care, Matthew protecting Ye-jin during her sleepwalking episodes, quietly adjusting the house for her safety, and helping her rediscover basic comfort and rest. Those scenes make their relationship feel far more believable than before.
The insomnia storyline also gives the romance more emotional weight. Ye-jin isn’t simply stressed; she’s exhausted emotionally and physically, and the drama does a good job portraying how burnout slowly destroys her ability to function normally.
There are still moments where the humor feels awkward or oddly timed, especially during some of the village scenes. But compared to the earlier episodes, the emotional tone feels much more consistent now.
Eric’s character also benefits from this episode. Instead of being portrayed as purely arrogant or cartoonish, the conflict with Michelle adds vulnerability and explains some of his frustrations. Michelle herself arrives rather suddenly, but her controlling relationship with Eric introduces an effective new layer of tension.
Most importantly, Episode 6 finally makes the romance genuinely work. The chemistry between the leads feels warmer, more patient, and emotionally grounded. Rather than relying on dramatic declarations, the show lets healing become the foundation of their connection, and that’s exactly why the final kiss feels earned.
Episode 6 delivers the drama’s strongest emotional pacing so far, with meaningful character development, a gentler romantic atmosphere, and several genuinely touching moments between Matthew and Ye-jin.
